In India, it is seen that most of the ladies don't wash their hairs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Most of these people who follow this custom in India and around the world do not know the reason, Why aren't Ladies advised to wash their hair on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday? and just following the crowd on the name of custom or tradition. So, I decided to do some research and find out the truth behind it and found out some really knowledgeable and must share stuff.

Why aren't Ladies advised to wash their hair on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday?

Well there are two type of belief behind this custom (tradition). One is traditional belief i.e. what people believe and other is scientific belief . We will talk about both traditional and scientific (or ancient) belief with some of its history one by one:

◾Traditional Belief (what people think):

There are different stories behind this Custom. Lets have a look on them:

The Legend

Thursdays are considered as the most auspicious days to worship Brihaspati, the Lord of Jupiter who is also called as Guru. It is said that washing hair on Thursdays shall prevent the blessings of Brihaspati and make people lose all their wealth and prosperity at home. There is a story that discusses this belief at length :-

Once there lived a rich merchant and his wife. They both were living a happy and affluent life. The lady of the house was a miser and would not tolerate giving in charity. Once a beggar approached her when the husband was away and asked for some food. The lady replied that she was busy with the household works and therefore he could come some other time.

In this way, the episode repeated itself with the beggar coming day after day during different hours of the day and the lady denying to feed him on the same excuses that she was very busy. When the beggar asked her when she would actually be free, she got irritated and said see for yourself, I am never free in my life. The beggar said, in such case, wash your hair on Thursdays and you shall feel free eventually.

The lady took the views of the beggar as a matter of fun and made it a practice to wash her hair regularly on Thursdays. Eventually the family lost all its wealth and happiness and came to streets. In their struggle for even the daily bread, the beggar once again came there and asked for alms. The lady responded in all her misery that they had no food for themselves to eat.

Later the couple discovered that it was none else than Lord Brihaspati who came as the beggar to reinforce the idea of charity in them. Since then, the lady avoided washing her hair on Thursdays and started doing regular pujas to Brihaspati on Thursdays wearing yellow clothes and offering yellow flowers and dishes. In this way, soon the family grew wealthy and now started giving alms to beggars and the needy.

Another Belief

Yet another belief says Thursdays are auspicious for the worship of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Mahalakshmi together and washing hair on Thursdays can turn down their blessings and make the house run out of supplies and wealth.

◾Scientific (Ancient) Belief:

Just like nowadays, women used to work the whole week taking care of her children, home, family, guests, relatives and what not. She was and is still believed to be the "HOME MINISTER" (literally). Now let's come to the logical reason behind it. We are told not to wash our hair on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

If you've noted carefully, there's a pattern. Leaving Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday aside, we are left with Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. There's only a day's gap between ,for example, Monday and Wednesday, "BREAK".

Coming to the point, in order to give the HOME MINISTER a break, it was decided to follow these so called "customs". So that, the women of the house will not have to be bothered by the head bath everyday.

So, I would suggest you to strictly follow these only if you wash your head everyday and you need a break. Reason is so simple but we insist on making it complicated.

  1. The main purpose of Black Magic Spells is to kill the person and it is applied in such a manner that a victim cannot understand or even know what is happening with him. Under the influence of Black Magic Spells, people may become careless and sometime they become reckless and start doing the tasks which are harmful to them.
This black magic makes victim a fool and this seems like the natural death of the person or we can say victim himself welcomes his death with his both open hands.
