In India i had seen it many times that when some one goes out of house or is ready to leave one should not sneeze as it leads to bad luck. But most of these people in India and around the world do not know the actual reason behind it. So, I decided to do some research and find out the truth behind it and found out some really knowledgeable and must share stuff.

Why don't leave home after sneezing?

Well there are two type of belief behind this Tradition. One is traditional belief i.e. what people believe and other is scientific belief . We will talk about both traditional and scientific (or ancient) belief with some of its history one by one

◾Traditional Belief (what people think):

In northern parts of India, sneezing before stepping out of the house or at the onset of a new task or journey is considered ill luck.

◾Scientific (Ancient) Belief:

A sneeze begins with a tickling sensation in the nerve endings that sends a message to your brain that it needs to rid itself of something irritating the lining of your nose. You first take a deep breath and hold it, which tightens your chest muscles. The pressure of air in your lungs increases, you close your eyes, your tongue presses against the roof of your mouth and suddenly your breath comes out fast through your nose.

The changing pressure in your chest due to sneezing also changes your blood flow, which may change the rhythm of your heartbeat. Dr. Richard Conti, past president of the American College of Cardiology, speculates that the belief that the heart actually comes to a stop during a sneeze could result from the sensation of having the heart "skip a beat." When there is a prolonged delay before the heart's next beat, he said, that beat is then more forceful and more noticeable, perhaps as a funny sensation in the throat or upper chest.

Sneezing is a mini-instant orgasm, it excites the person so, its better to take rest for a minute just after sneezing which normalize your body pressure and heart beat. When we are going out, we are already in hurry and this dalay the process of heart beat normalization and might cause heart attack and high blood pressure. So, it is advisable not to leave home just after sneezing.
